Since its inception in 1984, the Lauderdale County Tomato Festival in Ripley, Tennessee, has blossomed into a cherished annual tradition celebrating the region’s renowned tomato farming heritage. Held each July, the festival honors local growers and the agricultural community that has long been the backbone of Lauderdale County’s economy.
Over the years, the festival has expanded to include a variety of events and attractions. Attendees can enjoy carnival rides, live music, a 5K run, a tomato tasting contest, and the crowning of the Tomato Festival Royalty. Unique activities like the baby crawling contest and the “Paint the Town Red” initiative add to the family-friendly atmosphere.
A highlight of the festival is the recognition of the “Tomato Farmer of the Year,” celebrating individuals who have made significant contributions to the local tomato industry.
